Reports of Yet Another Homicide

The Chicago Police Twitter feed notes another homicide in Chicago's McKinley Park neighborhood, this taking place the evening of September 5, 2022, with two men sitting in a car in the 3700 block of South Paulina Street being shot, one fatally.

The update stated that three offenders were placed into custody through fast work by the 9th District tactical team, which recovered a weapon in the incident (pictured above).

This is the sixth homicide in the neighborhood this year, now doubling the count for all of 2021.

The McKinley Park News will continue to follow updates on local crime, including the recent spate of homicides plaguing the neighborhood .

All interested residents should attend the next CAPS Meeting for Beat 912 at 7 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 14. at the McKinley Park field house, 2210 W. Pershing Road, Chicago.

Social media and other reports note the identity of the deceased in the homicide on Monday, September 5, 2022, in the 3700 block of South Paulina Street as Phillip Hildebrand, 31, who was a longtime resident of McKinley Park.

His family have launched a fund-raiser to help cover funeral expenses on the GoFundMe website .

Arrest reports tracked in the McKinley Park News (in Notable Arrests , a subscriber feature), note Hildebrand's arrest for allegedly possessing an illegal handgun on June 16, 2021, in the 3800 block of South Honore Street and on December 31, 2020, in the 3600 block of South Wood Street .

Records also note an arrest on December 9, 2020, in the 3400 block of South Damen Avenue for alleged cocaine possession and a warrant issued on November 11, 2020 . Chicago Police Department arrest reports note earlier arrests for various charges stretching back to 2014.

Police have announced the identities and charges of two of the arrested suspects in this homicide:

• Julius Hernandez, 18, of the block of South Parkside Avenue, charged with one felony count of murder, and one felony count of attempted robbery.
• Byron Queijeiro, 20, of the 6100 block of West 94th Street, charged wtih murder in the first degree.

In the article " #35: One week after being released on felony gun charge, man shot and killed rival gang member in random attack, prosecutors say ," additional released details include specifics of the incident and how arrested suspects saw the victim, who flashed gang signs before being shot, according to prosecutors.

Additional details include the presence of surveillance video, an incriminating text message and returning gunfire on the assailants.
